reality, they are not. All season tires tend to stiffen up quite a bit

road as well and will tend to slide much easier. Unless you reside in an area with extreme cold temperatures, you should be safe to use all weather tires. There are regulations set in place that distinguishes a tire to be an all weather tire. The compound they are made of must be pliable enough, or soft enough to grip the snow in the winter, but still firm enough to withstand the warmer temperatures of the summer.
